Art, radical sustainability, and community in the heart of Norma, Italy.
La Zattera is not a traditional retreat. It is a progressive transformation of a rural landscape into a creative haven, an emergency space built to save ourselves and our environment.
Set across 2,500 m² of land with 50 ancient olive trees, we are reimagining the space through upcycling, permaculture, and radical sustainability. A place dedicated to artistic residencies, audiovisual production, theater, and sustainable living.
While our infrastructure is currently under construction, La Zattera is designed to host these core activities. A multidisciplinary ecosystem of creation.
Two artists (one international, one local) reside at La Zattera to work on a specific theme. The creative process is recorded, and the final output is shared with a physical or online audience, generating an unexpected cultural clash.
A reference point for those who need time. In exchange for physical or mental work on the land and the campus, residents receive space and time to retreat, breathe, and focus purely on their personal creative projects.
A living archive of stories collected from the local territory, visiting artists, and travelers. These stories are woven together into monologues, texts, and materials for future theatrical or audiovisual productions.
A hosting space for diverse practices. We organize and host workshops on bio-architecture, permaculture, yoga, meditation, and somatic movement, connecting the body to the rural landscape.
Protecting the 50 ancient olive trees and regenerating the soil. Our commitment to radical ecology through rainwater harvesting, zero waste, and communal farming.
